The Dahabeeyah

A white wooden lateen rigged vessel originally built in the United Kingdom & dating back to the 1830s ; The Dongola 1835 at 35 metres long was the original private yacht for Sultan Hussein. With a capacity for up to 8 clients this is an ideal boat for small private groups and families.

Its sister boat , the aptly named Giraffa 1840 is one of the longest authentic Dahabeeyahs still surviving on the Nile today, and at 50 metres long with A/C it has a capacity for up to 18 clients; this is an ideal boat for larger parties and special events.

Both vessels will be accompanied at all times by a barge in tow for security reasons.

Your Crew

Our Dahabeeyah will normally have a crew of 8 including a Captain and Chef who work tirelessly to create an ambience of luxury and comfort for your trip.

Your Cabin

Our Dahabeeyah have Luxury Double Cabins and a large double Deluxe Suite situated to the rear of the Dahabeeyah enabling one the most spectacular view of the Nile. Each cabin is furnished in a traditional but simple antique style and have traditional wooden shutters including a layer to protect against mosquitoes. All bedlinen is made with the best pure Egyptian Cotton and there is a luxury personal shower and toilet room with each cabin.

Dining

Dining on the Dahabeeyah can be a personal experience taken in ones cabin or one taken together above on the Upper Deck. Full Board is provided throughout the voyage and all the produce used is fresh and locally produced. Bottled water is used at all times to wash and cook the produce for health and hygiene reasons. Dinner by candlelight on the Upper Deck at sunset will be an experience you will never forget.

Lounging

The Salon is situated in the centre of the Dahabeeyah and is the focal point of the boat socially and is furnished in a spectacular but simple traditional manner. Dining can take place in the Salon, should the weather not permit it in the colder winter months.

The Upper Deck is partially covered with a linen canopy to enable protection from the sun and is furnished traditionally to enable maximum enjoyment for those who wish to relax, read and wind away the hours in awe of the spectacular Nilescapes.
